From Construction Site to BBC Look North: Photographing Rudding Park’s New Adventure Golf Course

I was commissioned to photograph the progress of the project as it developed, capturing the construction, the people involved and the transformation of the site from an empty space into a completely new attraction.
Capturing the story as it happens
Construction and development projects can change incredibly quickly. What looks like a building site one week can look completely different a few weeks later.
That makes good photography particularly valuable.
Rather than simply photographing the finished Adventure Golf course, I was able to document the process of the build, creating a visual record of how the project came together.
These images can be used for websites, social media, PR, marketing, internal communications and future publicity – as well as providing a record of the project itself.
From stills to video
As the project neared completion, I was also commissioned to produce a promotional video.
The finished footage captured the new course and the atmosphere around it, providing Rudding Park with engaging video content to promote the new attraction.
The video was subsequently used by BBC Look North on its evening bulletin, giving the project an additional level of exposure.
For me, this is where combining photography and video really comes into its own.
A project doesn't just need documenting at the end. There is a story to tell throughout the whole process – from the first groundwork through to the finished project opening its doors.
